Breaking out the bike can be one of the most beneficial forms of exercise one can undertake. When done safely and within one’s abilities, bicycling offers all the benefits of other exercises with a decreased risk of injuries. These are some of the benefits regular cycling offers riders:

Cardio and Muscle Building: Traditionally, exercises are either classified as cardiovascular or muscle-building workouts. Bicycling offers both. Cyclists experience increased heart rates for extended periods while using their own bodyweight to build muscle in the legs and other parts of the body.

Heart Health: Cycling a little every day has been shown to cut the risk of coronary heart disease by 50 percent.

Mental Health: Research has shown that commuting to work via bike can lead to increased mental health in some populations.
